About the unit 5 North is a twenty-eight-bed orthopedic unit which focuses on the adult patient with musculoskeletal problems that may potentially need surgical intervention.? Collaborative 24-hour patient care is provided within an effective interdisciplinary care team including Trauma mid-level providers, physical and occupational therapists, nursing assistants and case managers. About the unit The 20 bed MICU treats severely ill patients using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to care. Our patient population includes severe sepsis, acute respiratory failure, shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome, multisystem organ failure, gastrointestinal bleeds, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypertensive crisis and acute/chronic renal failure.
