Nuevosol is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager, Performance Engineering to lead the performance modeling and capacity testing of solar and storage project portfolio. This role requires advanced technical expertise in energy modeling and performance assessment, as well as strong project management and leadership skills to guide the Performance Engineering team in optimizing energy production, supporting project development, and ensuring project viability.
Responsibilities:
Performance Modeling and Analysis:
Oversee the selection of data inputs and evaluation of solar energy production outputs using performance modeling software, including PVSyst and SAM.
Analyze weather resources, soiling, and snow loss profiles based on project design and geographical location to optimize energy production forecasts.
Conduct and review high-quality reports with simulation results, insights, and optimization recommendations for plant design and installed generating capacity.
Project Support and Capacity Testing:
Lead the technical evaluation of site conditions and topology to build high-quality shade models for PV plus Storage Utility-scale projects.
Coordinate with internal teams on energy resource predictions, production simulations, and project-specific performance requirements.
Oversee capacity testing processes, including verification runs, to support projects through substantial completion milestones and ensure alignment with engineering and construction standards.
Technology Evaluation and Due Diligence:
Support the technology roadmap by leading equipment evaluation, performance benchmarking, and simulation runs.
Lead technical due diligence for project acquisition opportunities, assessing project viability and informing pro forma cost assumptions.
Provide commercial and strategic guidance on development pipeline projects, M&A targets, and operational assets.
Additional Responsibilities:
Stay current on industry standards, trends, and emerging technologies to continually enhance performance engineering practices.
Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and industry events and build professional expertise.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Performance Engineer in the renewable energy industry, specifically for utility-scale solar and storage projects.
Proven experience managing or leading technical teams with an emphasis on performance modeling and capacity testing.
Proficiency in energy modeling software such as PVSyst, SAM, and other related tools.
Desired Educational Level:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Meteorology, Math, or a related field.
Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.
