Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 Subject Matter Expert (SME). This role is responsible for providing advanced support and expertise in Active Directory, Messaging systems, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Microsoft 365 (M365), and ITIL best practices. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of these technologies and frameworks, and will be instrumental in troubleshooting complex issues, leading projects, and ensuring the stability and security of our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Active Directory:
Design, implement, and manage Active Directory environments, including domain controllers, organizational units, group policies, and trusts.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex Active Directory issues, including replication, DNS, and schema problems.
Conduct Active Directory migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption and alignment with best practices.
Develop and maintain documentation related to Active Directory configurations and procedures.
Messaging Systems:
Oversee the administration and support of messaging platforms such as Microsoft Exchange and other email systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve email delivery issues, performance problems, and configuration errors.
Implement and manage email security features, including spam filtering, encryption, and data loss prevention.
Plan and execute messaging system migrations and upgrades.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI):
Design, implement, and manage VDI environments using technologies like VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.
Troubleshoot VDI issues related to performance, connectivity, and user experience.
Optimize VDI configurations to ensure efficient resource utilization and scalability.
Develop and maintain documentation for VDI setups, configurations, and best practices.
Microsoft 365 (M365):
Administer and support M365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive for Business, and other M365 applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to M365 services, including user access, data synchronization, and application performance.
Implement and manage M365 security and compliance features, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies.
Plan and execute M365 migrations, including data migration, user provisioning, and service configurations.
Develop and maintain documentation for M365 configurations, policies, and best practices.
ITIL Knowledge and Experience:
Apply ITIL best practices to IT service management processes, including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management.
Develop and maintain ITIL-based process documentation and workflows to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) related to IT services.
Participate in continual service improvement initiatives and recommend changes to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
Provide guidance and support to the team in adhering to ITIL processes and standards.
General Responsibilities:
Serve as a key point of contact for escalated technical issues and provide expert-level support.
Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices, and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members and other IT staff.
Lead and contribute to IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Skills:
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory architecture, administration, and troubleshooting.
Experience with Scripting and automation tools (eg, PowerShell).
Expertise in messaging systems management and problem resolution.
Proficiency in VDI technologies and best practices.
Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration and support.
Solid understanding and application of ITIL frameworks and best practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with Patching tools (eg, SCCM, ManageEnginer Patch Manager Plus, Intune etc.) is a plus.
