An MQ Middleware Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Middleware solutions, particularly focusing on IBM MQ (Message Queue) systems. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications typically associated with this role:
Responsibilities:
- Design and Architecture: Develop and maintain the architecture for MQ Middleware solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.
- Implementation: Configure and deploy MQ systems, including setting up queues, channels, and other components.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for MQ-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Integration: Work with development teams to integrate MQ solutions with various applications and services.
- Security: Implement and maintain security measures for MQ systems, including encryption and access controls.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of the MQ architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize the performance of MQ systems to ensure efficient message processing.
- Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute upgrades and patches for MQ systems to keep them up-to-date with the latest features and security fixes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Several years of experience in Middleware architecture, with a strong focus on IBM MQ.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MQ configuration, scripting, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of other Middleware technologies and integration patterns is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as ITIL, TOGAF, or specific IBM MQ certifications can be beneficial.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
