An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Underwriter to join a leading, diversified specialty insurance and reinsurance company. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting business in accordance with the business plan and purpose of underwriting a profitable account. What you'll do:

As an Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our client's operations. You will be tasked with underwriting business in line with the strategic business plan while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. Your ability to accurately record and measure insurance risks will be crucial in maintaining best practices. A key part of your role will involve building strong relationships with various stakeholders such as customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues. Your commitment to continuous learning will see you constantly developing your expertise and technical knowledge. Additionally, you will participate in reviewing and analysing the portfolio to track progress towards achieving business objectives.

Contribute to the delivery of the divisional business plan, making decisions as appropriate
Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
Ensure the recording and measurement of insurance risks, including delegated underwriting authorities (DUA's) where relevant, to ensure accuracy and good practice
Establish, develop and strengthen relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues to maximise influence and achieve business objectives
Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through identifying and implementing appropriate learning and development activities
Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress towards business objectives

You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills which enable you to build robust relationships with various stakeholders. Your negotiation skills are top-notch, allowing you to secure favorable terms for both existing and new business. Your ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment is crucial, as is your analytical prowess in making data-driven decisions. Proficiency in relevant software within the company and division is also required.

Specific professional qualification (CII) (preferable)
Substantial experience gained within the insurance industry and within Open Market Business
Strong Market Network and Relationships
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in team environment
Strong analytical skills using data for decision-making
