Front Office - Booking Model Controls SME (Contract)

Location: City of London Country: UK Rate: £800 - £900 per day + Umbrella/PAYE (Inside IR35)
 

Front Office - Booking Model Controls Specialist - £900 per day

A Leading Financial Services firm are looking to hire an experienced Booking Model Controls Specialist, with specific exposure within Front Office environments.

  • * £800-£900 a day (Inside IR35/Umbrella or PAYE only)*
  • * The role is initially a 7 month contract with scope to roll*
  • * Hybrid - Based in London (3 days a week in the office/2 days a week at home)*

Role Overview

  • Booking Controls focus on what is booked where, and why - ensuring adherence to business, desk and individual trader mandates, and also ensuring the integrity of legal entities in preventing material booking errors.
  • Booking Controls also focus on how a trade is booked - ensuring Front Office bookings are accurate, timely and complete in order to proceed downstream and onwards to internal/external reporting and stakeholder groups.
  • The candidate will be an integral member of a control remediation workstream, working with Front Office and Technology, specifically focusing on manual entry size and price preventative booking controls involving analysis of existing controls, control design, control enhancements and control implementation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as the 1LOD representative for the Preventative Control Team to ensure that Markets' Businesses have adequate Manual Entry Size Price controls.
  • Working with the Product and Business Management teams to review and challenge the overall structure and conformance of the in scope trading applications vis-a-vis Global Markets specific policies and standards.
  • Help manage the end to end delivery of preventative controls, including preparation of initial Business Requirements, performing review against functional specifications, and overseeing user acceptance testing.
  • Define and agree solutions, business requirements for proposed controls in order to meet the regulatory commitments and business objectives.
  • Partner with the Preventative Booking Controls Implementation Team to walkthrough and handover Size and Price control requirements for enhancements and new implementations; acting as a touchpoint for ensuring delivery aligns to Business requirements and support as required.
  • Consideration to size and price control threshold determination and impacts on dimensions, calibration and look across all Markets Businesses when implementing and enhancing controls.
  • Updating existing size and price control logic summary documentation and expected testing scenarios.
  • Work with Audit and other Control groups to investigate control failures and drive forward control enhancement initiatives.

Skills Required

  • Front to Back asset class product knowledge, at a working level garnered from working directly on the desk on projects or 1LOD function
  • Relevant industry experience in: Markets Business Management/FO control function, or other relevant change functions
  • Strong working knowledge of front to back order management and trade booking flows, specifically around trade booking and/or order submission
  • Experience in working on controls related change, working with technology, including writing detailed business requirements, defiing test acceptance criteria and overseeing technology implementation
  • Subject matter expertise in Markets traded products and related control principles
  • Proven track record in collaboration across different businesses, regions and/or support functions
  • Excellent communication skills up to senior level
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills - ability to think dynamically but with a Controls mindset at the forefront
  • Strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills

Key Skills Preferred

  • Good understanding of 3LOD Controls environment, industry standard Risk & Control assessment frameworks
  • Product Knowledge, ideally gained on a FO/Booking Ctrl/Product Control/Risk & Control project role
  • Product knowledge needs to be in the context of trade booking activities/processes and controls around pre and post trade booking
  • Electronic trading flows and strategies and their associated controls
