Senior Data Engineer (Permanent)

Location: City of London Country: UK Rate: £60k - £80k per annum
 

Job Overview

Position: Senior Data Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for storing, processing, modelling, and applying data science to ensure that data and insights are available for data analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) systems. You must be proficient in data assessment and profiling, source system analysis, and providing a clear vision for processing and interpreting data to support its end-use.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a background in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing (Data Engineer/DW Developer) with robust DW development and ETL/ELT data pipeline experience, along with expert knowledge of SQL.

Key Skills - Mandatory

  • Strong data modelling and SQL/database design skills
  • Proficiency in ETL/ELT processes
  • Extensive experience with Python
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and statistical skills
  • Ability to visualize and present data and insights to stakeholders; experience with BI tools such as Looker is highly advantageous
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses, ideally with AWS/Redshift, Azure, GCP, or Snowflake
  • Experience with dbt is highly advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, organize, and prepare raw data for modelling and data analytics
  • Architect and assist in building data systems and pipelines
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives
  • Combine raw information from various sources
  • Explore methods to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Participate in developing analytical reports, including conducting analysis, applying data science techniques, summarizing data, and interpreting results

Additional Skills

  • Experience with JIRA/Asana
  • Proficiency in requirements gathering and documentation
  • Experience with multiple BI tools
  • Knowledge of HTML
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools such as Fivetran and Matillion
