The role:

The main purpose of this role is be to provide comprehensive financial support in the delivery of both Capital & Opex investment portfolios across the business. As a key member of the project team you will drive the financial performance, providing commercial rigueur and challenge to the wider project and commercial teams. This is to ensure value for money for the company and in turn maximise regulatory returns of the investment portfolio across the business.

Responsibilities:

Work with the Project Management Teams to ensure that project spend & forecasts are at all times thorough, comprehensive and fully reflective of the projects progress on site and programme, together with the considered risk profile in order to update and submit in line with the monthly timetable.

Provide a review of performance to Management and project teams, undertaking trend and variance analysis with an eye on critical evaluation to drive improved project performance.

Be recognised as a trusted partner for the business, utilising your financial expertise and project knowledge to provide support to the wider business.

Support the Senior Project Manager in interpreting and understanding their portfolio highlighting reasons for deviation and areas of focus.

Ensure accuracy of actual costs incurred, provide challenge to the project teams if costs appear too high or low and ensure there is an effective control framework.

Stewardship of key Master data which drives the vast majority of our systems and reporting, lead the way in ensuring data is maintained and reviewed continuously using your relationships with the responsible people within the project teams and businesses.

Undertake a crucial role for all audits, providing clear supporting information and evidence of balances providing understanding of the position and the reasons why they move.

Ensure there is a focus on the close out processes and forecasting of capitalisation to prevent backlogs, ensuring the business recognises it's true asset and depreciation positions. Work with your project teams to ensure this is a priority and projects are closed out efficiently.

Pro-actively looks for ways to continuously improve, both as individuals and within our processes. Put forward ideas for consideration and if accepted take a lead in your ideas standardised implementation.

Requirements:

Large complex IT project experience

Possess significant experience of reporting financial information, with a particular focus on working with none finance staff.

Demonstrate commercial acumen.

Develop good relationships at all levels facilitating open challenge.

Ability to influence and work as part of a virtual team.

Proven experience of planning, forecasting, and budgeting across a variety of projects.

Confident in stakeholder management and working across teams to deliver objectives.

Experience in supporting commercial decisions with relevant financial information.

Experience of SAP and MS Office would be an advantage.

Be prepared to travel to sites on adhoc basis.
