Job Title: Product Safety Engineer

What you'll be doing:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Lead Product Safety hazard and risk identification, management, and assessment activities
- Oversee the administration and management of the Project Hazard Log
- Complete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation
- Understand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality and Management System documentation
- Influence the construction and delivery of the Project Safety Case including Safety Case reports
- Produce, present and articulate clear and logical technical safety arguments
- Providing independent product design and assurance against life cycle as well as engineering product policies
- Provide technical support and oversight to the assessment and quantification of functional integration risk
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Knowledge of HAZOP/HAZIN/FTA
- Experience in the use of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- STEM Degree or equivalent experience
Desirable:
- Experience in chairing Hazard Identification (HAZIN) meetings
- Experience in mentoring/coaching teams/individuals
- Submarines design life-cycle experience

The Safety & Environmental team:
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team tasked which offers exposure to the wider strategic initiative. You will be working with a team of people from principals to apprentices, liaising with operational managers, heads of departments. This role offers exposure to the Wider Control Damage Hazards team whilst individually being given the opportunity for professional growth within the function. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
