Senior Software Developer/Team Lead (Medical Devices)

About the Company:

We are representing an innovative healthcare technology company focused on developing cutting-edge DNA amplification systems for rapid detection and testing of infectious diseases and genetic markers. Their goal is to deliver affordable, point-of-care diagnostics to address global healthcare challenges.

We are seeking an experienced Software Team Leader to join the instrumentation software team. This is a key role, offering the opportunity to lead software development efforts and contribute to the advancement of pharmacogenomic diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the software development team.
  • Oversee the development of Embedded and off-board software, ensuring compliance with IEC 62304 and ISO 13485 standards.
  • Implement and maintain Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, product management, etc.) to gather and refine requirements.
  • Support software verification, debugging, and release processes.
  • Conduct code reviews, root-cause analysis, and software optimization.
  • Participate in hands-on development activities (approx. 25-50%).

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in medical software development (IEC 62304).
  • Strong background in Embedded software development.
  • Experience leading and managing software development teams.
  • Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with Android app development (Kotlin or Java).
  • Minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience in Embedded software development.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and unit testing.
  • Familiarity with ARM and Intel-based architecture.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as Bluetooth, USB, SPI, UART.
  • Experience using JIRA, Bitbucket, and Continuous Integration tools (eg, Jenkins).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Location:

Our office is based in Manchester and is easily accessible by public transportation. Flexibility for partial hybrid working arrangements is available.

Hours of Work:
