School Care Assistant - Kingston Upon Thames

We are currently recruiting for a School Care Assistant to support children within an SEN school based in Kingston Upon Thames. The role will be working Full time to support students with moderate-severe Special Educational Needs who are in need of personal care such as feeding, washing, dressing and some medicating. Some students will be wheelchair bound and non-verbal. The activities are both on and off site to support children with their independence and being ready for life after leaving school.

The role will be based in a SEN school where most students will have 1:1 support if not 2:1 and will be in small groups and classes of a maximum of 10. Although this role is predominantly 1:1, there will be support when needed but as a School Care Assistant, you will be required to support children without supervision when needed.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with disabilities within some vicinity; whether that's as a Support worker, Healthcare assistant, Teaching assistant or in personal life.

Requirements:

• Either live in Kingston or within a commutable distance
• Have an enhanced child & adult DBS on the update service or be willing to get a new one
• Have experience as a School Care Assistant, though not essential
• Must have SEN experience
• Be comfortable doing personal care when needed

If successful, you will be a School Care Assistant throughout the entire academic year with the potential of going permanent in the future. If not successful in this role then we may consider you for other roles in the Kingston Upon Thames area depending on your suitability and availability. Part time candidates are welcome to apply as we may get some supply work during busier times of the academic year.
