Senior Science Technician - Full-Time Position

Location: A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in South East London
Start Date: After October half-term

Empowering Learning is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Science Technician for a Full time role at a well-established secondary school in South East London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic science department and contribute to the success of students and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the daily operations of the science preparation rooms, ensuring all equipment, chemicals, and materials are available for practical lessons.
  • Provide technical support to science teachers, including setting up and clearing away equipment for practical experiments.
  • Ensure the safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and equipment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Supervise and support junior science technicians, providing guidance and training where necessary.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of teaching resources and practical activities.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a science technician in a school environment.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to a science department.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in science or technical fields.
  • Experience with stock control, chemical management, and laboratory safety procedures.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
