Pricing & Promotions Manager
Hybrid Working - 2 - 3 days a week from the client's office in Amsterdam
6-month contract
€70 - 75 per hour - based on a 40-hour working week
Digital Skills is thrilled to collaborate with a leading global retailer in their pursuit of an outstanding Pricing & Promotions Manager to work as part of the EU eCommerce Buying, Planning & Trading department, the Pricing & Promotions team leads and drives critical decisions around assortment and pricing for my clients European business.
The role;
You will be focused on maximizing sales, profitability, and sell-through by managing:
- Pricing strategy across all product categories in eCommerce, ensuring alignment with brand strategy while achieving financial goals
- Product life cycle management, with an emphasis on planning and executing major commercial campaigns (eg end-of-season sales, Black Friday).
- You will help translate financial plans into relevant commercial assortments and execute them.
- You will play a vital role within the Buying, Planning & Trading department, while also driving Real Time, in-season trading by turning assortment and consumer insights into actionable strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of the European eCommerce Assortment Strategy in all activities where pricing and promotional elements play a role.
- Manage day-to-day pricing and promotional activities, ensuring alignment with key assortment principles.
- Assist with end-to-end preparation for commercial campaigns (eg mid-season sales), including defining sale dates, selecting articles, creating discount strategies, and planning stock migrations to meet targets.
- Facilitate clear communication with all stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
- Plan and implement price actions (markdowns, promotions, sales) while analysing the financial impact of these initiatives.
- Track and analyze article performance across seasons to ensure consistent product selection and pricing.
- Contribute with ongoing insights into seasonal buying, planning, and trading milestones and regular meetings to inform upcoming pricing and markdown strategies.
- Collaborate with the Analytics team to implement specific pricing strategies during key campaigns.
- Engage Analytics on the improvement and creation of new solutions and tools to steer and optimize pricing and promotional decisions.
- Ensure consistent article ownership (inline/outlet) across all EU markets throughout the season.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing updates of pricing and promotional policies and ensure all related process documentation is current.
- Maintain a knowledge base of country-specific legal restrictions, special sales periods, and actions (eg, friends and family events) to enhance future pricing decisions.
- Provide input for management reporting, including pricing, markdown, competitor analysis, and traffic-weighted availability. Issue reports to analyze promotional activities, including sales periods.
- Maintain historical records of promotional performance to support effective future planning.
- Manage and document price change history and maintain exclusion lists to ensure compliance with pricing policies.
- Proactively suggest process improvements and ideas for simplification of tasks.
- Contribute form a pricing/promo point-of-view to large transformational projects withing the company, like preparation of the new ERP for the company.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to dive into large datasets using various tools and build key relationships to achieve results.
- A team player, able to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring interaction with and support for different departments.
- Strong understanding of key digital KPIs (eg, Traffic, AOV, PDP views, CVR) but also financial performance metrics (demand, net sales, margin, logistic costs)
- 2-4 years of experience in merchandising with exposure to buying, planning, distributions, budgeting topics
- Experience in the FMCG: fashion, or sporting goods industry is an advantage
- General understanding of eCommerce Operations
- Advanced user of Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint
- Elementary knowledge and experience with SAP and PIM.
- Familiarity with ERPs is an advantage.
- Highly motivated and flexible, able to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
