A new nursery in South Tyneside is set to create over 20 new jobs in the childcare sector, according to a source.
Recently a winner of the Employer of the Year award Ashfield Nurseries and ELC is expanding in the area to create a new 80 place centre, reports the Shield Gazette.
The new nursery will be located in Jarrow and will add to the three existing sites in the area, in South Shields and Gateshead.
Brian Powel, the director of the company, told the newspaper: "We envisage an 80-place nursery, providing new jobs for about 20 nursery nurses and the administration team.
"Our three nurseries are popular and firmly established and we feel the time has come to make a capital investment to repeat our success in other parts of Tyneside."
The firm received the Employer of the Year status for its training of nursery nurses, in which it has an "excellent pro-active attitude and co-operation".
Ashfield, the latest opening in the chain, allows a maximum of 72 children to attend and employs 13 staff.
